With no apparent superpowers of his own, however, Will seems destined to grow up a mere sidekick. But as he discovers his true strengths, he'll also learn that it takes loyalty and teamwork to truly become a hero!

• Trivia | Fun Facts
- According to actors who auditioned for various roles in the production, the main children's parts are to be contracted for not only a sequel but also a possible television series on the cable Disney Channel.

- Actress Lynda Carter was initially given gold bracelets to wear as an homage to her 1970s Wonder Woman role. Warner Bros., who owns copyright to the Wonder Woman character, didn't want the bracelets shown in a Disney movie so they were removed from Carter's wardrobe for the film. She did however get to say the line "I'm not Wonder Woman you know" in one of the last scenes of the movie.

- While Kurt Russell's suit had a cooling system, a tube where iced water circulated, Kelly Preston's didn't because it was so tight.

- The phone number for Stronghold Realty is 800-656-1482, which is a number at ABC, which is owned by Disney. The voicemail message is.: "Thank you for calling ABC, the number you have reached is a fictional non-working number used for motion picture, and television production." The number can be seen near the end of the movie when Mr., and Mrs. Timmerman are admiring their new house, which is about to be crushed by Sky High, the camera pans by the Stronghold Realty sign.

- The comment Mr. Boy makes about sidekicks not wearing costumes with colors that clash with their hero's is a jab at comics' most famous hero/sidekick team, Batman and Robin. Where Batman wears dark colors (blue and gray) Robin wears bright colors (Red, green and yellow).

- The walls of Will's room are covered in various posters. One of the posters by his desk is a poster for Tenacious D.

- Actress Cloris Leachman also appeared in the television series Wonder Woman, as Queen Hippolyte, mother of Wonder Woman, the part played by Lynda Carter.

- Warren Peace's name sounds like “War and Peace”, the classic novel. The name hints at the basic theme of the film.

- All the boys wear Converse high tops in the colour of their character. This is a nod back to “The Computer Who Wore Tennis Shoes”, filmed by Disney (who filmed “Sky High”) and starred Kurt Russell.

- The role of Speed was intended to be for an exceptionally athletic boy, but when Will Harris auditioned, the casting director found him so like-able that the role was changed to accommodate his larger stature.

- Danielle Panabaker's feature film debut.

- Gwen Grayson is a combination of two comic book names from two franchises: Gwen Stacy of Spider-Man (Marvel) and Dick Grayson (DC Comics).
• Goofs | Bloopers
- Audio/visual unsynchronized: Warren's lips don't move in the over-the-shoulder shot of him talking to Layla in the Paper Lantern.

- Continuity: At the Homecoming Dance, Mr. Boy offers Layla a drink. Lash reaches out and spills the drink on Mr. Boy's shirt, but there is still a good amount of liquid left in the cup. At the very next shot, however, when Layla is handing him a napkin, Mr. Boy's cup is completely empty.

- Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Warren first walks up to Layla in the paper lantern, the water pitcher he's holding is hanging down on his side. But in the next shot he's holding it up in front of his chest.

- Plot holes: When the freshman are on the bus on the first day of school, the bus driver says that the location of Sky High is always changing and is only disclosed to a handful of authorized people. When the kids get off the bus, two girls are seen flying in to school instead of riding the bus. How did they know the location of the school?
• Quotes from the Film
Layla: [after getting punched in the face by Penny] Big mistake!
[Penny backs away slightly and then Layla uses her powers to grow vines in the cafeteria; the vines then grow over Penny and her clones and pull them up in the air]
Penny: But I thought you were a sidekick.
Layla: I am a sidekick.

Layla: Now I know it's just our first day, but I already can't wait to graduate and start saving mankind... And womankind. And animalkind.
Will Stronghold: And the rainforest.
Layla: Of course!

Principal Powers: In a few moments, you will go through Power Placement and your own heroic journey will begin.
Will Stronghold: Power Placement?
Layla: Sounds fascist.
Ethan: Power Placement. It's how they decide where you go.
Magenta: The hero track or the loser track.
Will Stronghold: There - there's a loser track?
Ethan: I believe the preferred term is "Hero Support.".

[during Power Placement]
Coach Boomer: [to Layla] You, Flower child. Let's go.
Layla: I believe in only using my powers when the situation demands it.
Coach Boomer: Well, you're in luck: This is the situation, and I'm demanding it.
Layla: But to participate in this test would be to support a flawed system. I think the whole Hero-Sidekick dichotomy only serves to...
Coach Boomer: Let me get this straight. Are you refusing to show me your powers?
Layla: Well, it's more complicated than that, I mean...
Coach Boomer: [Yells very loudly, causing all glass in the vicinity to shatter and makes everyone brace themselves] SSSSSIIIIIIIDDDDDDEEEEEEEKKKKKIIIIIIICCCCCCCKKKKKK!

[Warren shows up at the Homecoming Dance wearing his father Baron Battle's tuxedo]
Layla: I thought you weren't renting a tux?
Warren Peace: It's my dad's. He doesn't have much use for it in solitary.
Layla: [tries to get off the subject that Warren's father is in prison by holding up a cheese cube] Cheese cube?

[Will lifts a lunch table with Warren Peace on top over his head]
Layla: He's strong!
Will Stronghold: [surprised] I'm strong?
Gwen: He's super strong!

Royal Pain: [after throwing Will out the gym window] And there goes your last chance of stopping me!
Layla: [furiously] WE'LL SEE ABOUT THAT!

Warren Peace: To let true love remain unspoken is the quickest route to a heavy heart.
Layla: Wow, that is really deep!
Warren Peace: [reading off of a fortune cookie] Yeah. And your lucky numbers are... 4, 16, 5... and 49.

Layla: So, then there was this time in first grade. You know how you grow lima beans in school? Well, Will could not figure out why mine was growing so quickly, it was driving him crazy. So finally I took mercy on him and I told him about my powers! We've been best friends ever since.
Warren Peace: And falling for him, was that before or after the lima beans?
Layla: What? I am *not* in love with Will Strong... is it that obvious?
Warren Peace: Yeah.

Ethan: You're on! If Will beats you in Save The Citizen, you lay off the sidekicks for the rest of the year.
Zach: Yeah, and if he loses, you can dunk Ethan's head in the toilet every day until graduation.
Ethan: Yeah! Huh?
Lash: You got yourself a deal!
Will Stronghold: Wait, guys, guys! Come on, guys, are you crazy? No freshman ever won Save the Citizen, and those guys are undefeated!
Layla: And you barely know how to use your powers!
[pause]
Layla: Sorry... not helping.
Zach: Will, you have no choice. You can't let them dunk Ethan's head in the toilet. Not again.
[dead serious]
Zach: The dunking - must end.

Layla: What's embarrasing him in front of the entire class going to prove? That is so unfair.
Will Stronghold: Yeah, well if life were to suddenly get fair, I doubt it would happen in high school.

[Will lifts a lunch table with Warren Peace on top over his head]
Layla: He's strong!
Will Stronghold: [surprised] I'm strong?
Gwen: He's super strong!

Layla: You know how my mom can communicate with animals? Apparently they don't like being eaten.

Warren Peace: Did you want me to heat that up for you?
Layla: We're not supposed to use our powers outside of school!
Warren Peace: I was just gonna stick it in the microwave.

Layla: When life gives you lemons...
[Layla tries to grow a lemon, but produces an apple instead]
Will Stronghold: Make apple juice?

Layla: Hey there, cutie! I was just thinking about you. I'm so excited for homecoming. I can't wait. I can hardly...
[Layla pauses as she watches Will and Gwen walk away; Warren burns her hand]
Layla: ...OW!
Warren Peace: Never call me "Cutie."

Layla: Hi, Warren.
Warren Peace: Did I do or say anything last night to make you think this is okay?
Layla: Funny. No, but, seriously, you're never gonna believe what happened. I was about to ask Will to homecoming when, wouldn't you know it, I said I was going with you instead.
Warren Peace: I don't remember that being the plan.

Layla: The guys at this school are all jerks!
Warren Peace: Thanks a lot.

• Production Notes

"I love Layla; she's such a great character. She doesn't follow the rules, she makes them. That's great to have that confidence to go into high school which is already such a ferocious place and she's very nurturing and she's a shoulder for Will to lean on and what he's going through."
- Danielle Panabaker

"This movie is so great and I love that every character has their own color scheme and I thought green was such a perfect color for Layla because she's so earthy and cares about everyone; she's got such a huge heart so green was always fun. I love the wardrobe on this movie; we always would be picking out the different jewelry and the flowers on the rings, and stuff like that."
- Danielle Panabaker

"That's what's great about this movie; they are superheroes and the kid next door, the boy and girl next door who you've known for years, they're dealing with high school and dealing with bullies and pressure from their parents so you know who they are; they just happen to have really cool super powers."
- Danielle Panabaker

"The character I'm playing is the center of attention, I don't have to be me; I don't have to be this really insecure person that I am. I can be Layla who knows what it's all about; she knows she doesn't eat meat, she knows she loves Will, and she's got it figured out. I never know any of those things."
- Danielle Panabaker

"It was great to work with Mike [Mitchell] not only because I knew him but because he's such a great guy; you can sit and chat with him over jokes and you never feel like he's shouting across the room telling you how he wants it. It's always a collaboration and a lot of fun."
- Danielle Panabaker

"I didn't have many special effects to do; the biggest challenge for me was not to scream when everyone was up on the wires cause I was so nervous that someone was going to fall or get hurt. So I just had to hold my breath, you know, like when Warren [Peace] (Steven Straight) is on top of the table on top of him terrified me."
- Danielle Panabaker

"I would love the ability to multiply cause then I'd be able to be in a lot of places at once. You know, one of them could be here, one of them could be still in bed, one of them could be in vacation in Hawaii - see Hawaii, it's on my brain."
- Danielle Panabaker

"There's this one scene that we film on the roof of Will's house and I swear this girl must have slipped off, almost slipped off three times and I grabbed her. I'm superhero like that... He's my superhero. He saved my life. "
- Michael Angarano & Danielle Panabaker

"I would love to do a sequel; I had so much fun making Sky High that to do a sequel would be such a blessing."
- Danielle Panabaker
