Jamieson (Jamie) Bartlett (Kay Panabaker) has three best friends named Connor (Jason Dolley), Lindsay (Marquise Brown) and Harmony (Alexandra Krosney), and an enemy named Sawyer Sullivan (Allison Scagliotti), whose boyfriend (Chad Broskey) is the object of Jamie's affection. She also owns a tablet PC which she writes in every day. In that journal she writes about a character named "Isabella" , or "Is"(Danielle Panabaker), a popular girl with incredible powers. She bases the character loosely upon her, and uses her alter-world to write her feelings about her fellow classmates, friends, and her life. As an English assignment, she has to write an essay of her choice, but when her printer dies, she means to sends it to Lindsay but sends her journal by mistake. After Lindsay turns the journal in for the English assignment, it wins a writing contest. Jamie's book then starts to attract a lot of publicity and eventually becomes a bestseller. She appears at many book signings, reality TV shows and is often interviewed. Jamie becomes increasingly materialistic and critical of the world around her...

• Goofs | Bloopers
- Continuity: When Jamie is talking to Marco at the dance, she is wearing long, dangling earrings, and the right one keeps switching from being caught up in her upswept hair to being loose.

- Continuity: When the teacher is reading Jamie's story from the paper, she reads the line about Myrna being "zapped" along with her friends. Then she goes on to read about the Prince. When Janie looks back, the teacher is reading the line about "zapping" Myrna again.

- Revealing mistakes: At the dance, when Lenny was singing his song that he has supposedly never let anyone hear before, you can clearly see Jennifer #1 singing along with it.

- Continuity: When Jamie walks down the passageway to leave to go on tour, she is wheeling her luggage. In the next shot the luggage is gone.

- Continuity: When Connor and Jamie are chatting online, Connor types "No, I hate what you've become." Later, when they show the screen again, Connor's message reads, "No, I hate what you have become."

- Continuity: When Connor writes the article for the newsletter and Jamie reads it out loud the next day at school, she is reading something different than what is on the paper. It has the same meaning but they're different words.

- Continuity: During the final song, the whale is hanging back up on ceiling in perfect condition, after it had been 'dropped' as part of save the whales protest.
